Physical Education

At Nether Stowey, we value physical activity and we have a wonderful curriculum available to the children. Part of this involves giving them the opportunity to apply new skills to game situations, which can be seen in the photos below.

Our year 6 children lead games for the younger children at break times.

At Lunch time, we have an activities supervisor, who encourages children to keep active by providing opportunities at sports such as skipping, badminton and basketball.

We are lucky to have former pupils who are visiting the school to inspire the next generation to take part in sport. They are called Inspiration Days and it opens the children’s eyes to a wide amount of sports that can be enjoyed from an exercise and social point of view, however, it also highlights paths to elite level sport.

Luke Williams, international mountain biker, visited in September to talk about cycling and then lead a cycle-cross activity for 125 children, across the school day.

We enjoy competing at lots of events. This is our school footbal team.

We want our pupils to be active outside of school - but we also want them to be safe, so every year, year 6 pupils undertake Bikeability training.

We like to build relationships with local clubs. Somerset County Cricket Club deliver extra lessons every year.
