Welcome

Welcome to Nether Stowey Church of England Primary School

I wish you a very warm welcome to our website and our school.

Nether Stowey Church of England Primary School is set in the foothills of the Quantock Hills in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and rich cultural history. The village of Nether Stowey has a strong community and the school sits at the very heart of this.

I am delighted to welcome you to Nether Stowey C of E Primary School and proud to be the Headteacher of such a welcoming, happy, forward thinking school where the school community shares the highest of expectations and aspirations for everyone; working hard together towards securing the best outcomes for every single child. Our vision is underpinned by our Christian principles and values of Thankfulness, Fellowship, Endurance, Peace, Charity and Trust. These values are shared with all staff, governors and children inspiring all that we do.

Our driving ambition is to provide excellence for all in teaching and learning and to open doors to a bright future. In the Early Years Foundation Stage, outdoor learning is an integral requirement of the curriculum; our children enjoy an extensive outdoor setting in which to learn and play together. We promote excellence in learning and include the development of thinking skills, collaborative and investigative opportunities for children throughout their learning experience. Active involvement in the learning process leads children to become independent, creative and autonomous learners. Educational visits and visitors help to enrich the children’s learning experiences and provide further learning beyond the classroom.

The home school partnership is one of exceptional importance to us as we firmly believe that this is the key to ensuring successful learning for your child. We operate an open door policy and have regular Family Learning sessions.

Upon arrival at the school, you will immediately notice a warm welcome, the excellent learning behaviour of our children and the passion, enthusiasm and friendliness of our staff. Each child is supported by a team of staff united in encouraging, guiding, motivating and challenging each one of them to be the best they can be.

We are lucky to have dedicated Governors from the village and surrounding area giving up their time and expertise to ensure the school aims high and delivers the best possible start to all our children. Our parents dedicate time to offer inspired, exciting events for the children and to raise money for the school through our Friends Of Nether Stowey School (FONSS) group.

We offer wraparound care for all our children both before school. Staff, parents and volunteers give their time to offer a range of clubs and after school activities.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Have a look around our website to find out more. If you would like to visit, please get in touch and I'd be happy to meet you and be very proud to show you around.
