Types of SEND
We have included some specific examples of what SEND might look like under the four broad categories of Cognition and Learning (C&L), Communication and Interaction (C&I), Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) and Physical/ Sensory needs.
It is not an exhaustive list but demonstrates some of the learning difficulties that children may have. It is not possible to identify specific learning difficulties without thorough assessments following a graduated response. This is outlined in our SEND policy.
Supporting with Spelling Difficulties
Here are some examples of how you might practice spellings with a child who has difficulty remembering how to spell words. Using a combination of these approaches will benefit all children, not just those who may have SEND.
